Preventative Dental Care at Harbor Point Dental Group
How to Apply Preventative Care at Home
Here is how we can apply the Five P’s to our flossing habits. By taking the preventative care to our teeth through flossing twice daily, we can prevent tartar build up in all of those hard to reach crevices. Brushing doesn’t reach every spot! Although rinsing with mouthwash helps to eliminate bacteria and bad breath, it should never replace flossing. Just because the mouthwash fluid can flow between your teeth as you swish it around, doesn’t mean it’s doing the best job of cleaning in between your teeth. By taking those few moments to floss, we can use the idea of the Five P’s of Oral Health to prevent tartar. By preventing tartar, we keep bacteria from eating away at our tooth enamel, and thus preventing cavities and tooth decay. Cavities and tooth decay can lead to painful root canals, and even extractions if the tooth cannot be saved. So what are we going to keep in mind when it comes to flossing?
